DELIVERANCE FROM A SPIRIT OF FEAR

Fear is often be quite obvious in its manifestations but for me it was not recognisable as such.

I’ve been reasonably fit much of my life, loved back packing, running etc, but always struggled with what I thought must be the smallest lung capacity on the planet and often felt really constricted in my whole chest area, as if I had something tight wrapped around me.

However, during ministry with Dawn at Restore Healing Ministry, the Lord showed me a series of events in my maternal grandfather’s life during his childhood which led to him developing serious asthma at an early age. He had been verbally abused by his father throughout his childhood and was very frightened of him and it was obvious (now) that fear had entered him during that time. One particular event I saw was when he was in his bed with a blanket over his head and he was crying out, “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe!!” and I repeated that. It was as if I was actually there, experiencing it for myself! My mother also had this lung thing going on and was diagnosed with COPD in her early 70’s. Fortunately, I was not affected to that degree! Anyway, Dawn discerned that a spirit of fear needed dealing to and I was subsequently delivered of it.

Since then, even though I’m currently not that fit, it’s significantly easier uphill walking and I no longer feel constricted in my chest area.

I have known Dawn for over 15 years as a good friend, and since 2010 as a member of our church community. Her passion to know and experience the love and power of God in everyday life has been an inspiration. This has always been combined with her deep commitment and faithfulness, perseverance, and tireless service to her local community. Her pastoral heart and genuine concern for the wellbeing of people (along with her husband Peter and their 3 adult children) has always been evident through the many people that have spent time at their home receiving hospitality, friendship, support and prayer.

Over this time it has also been my privilege to observe the Lord developing Dawn's gifts and calling in the area of healing and restoration of people, physically, mentally and emotionally. She has learnt much through her own journey to healing and wholeness, in combination with the skills and wisdom gained from the wide variety of formal training courses she has undertaken. In the past year it has been wonderful to see many of these threads come to fruition in her clear commission into the healing ministry.

Dawn's ministry is marked by an uncommon breadth and depth of insight, yet always with the simplicity and practicality of God. The hallmarks of her ministry are; Christ-centred approach, sensitivity to God's leading, and a broad and deep understanding of the interactions of the human soul, spirit and body. These combined with her faithfulness to make her a skilled and trusted minister of God's healing family. The value of the healing ministry Dawn has been entrusted with has been proven in my own life and in the life of our church community, through the on-going stories of people who have been transformed and set free of lifelong difficulties and wounds through the love of Jesus.

I know that Dawn and her healing ministry are gifts from the Lord to the Body of Christ and the wider community. It is my pleasure to wholeheartedly affirm and recommend her in this.
